Reconfiguring AllCoreDevs

 all of this.

  • Short & long term roadmaps
  • Stakeholder input
  • Headline feature & P1.
  • ACD(E/C) focused on roadmap & decisions
  • ACDT on current upgrade implementation

Short term roadmap

PFId EIPs should not be presented at ACD(E/C), there just isn’t time. Instead champions are encouraged to share a short slide deck & 5 minute video async and add this to the discussions topic of their EIP on Eth Magicians.

The considered for inclusion (CFI) bar for P2 EIPs should be very high and strong community support should be required. EIPs should generally only be CFId if they significantly move the roadmap forward. Exceptions to this should be rare.

Using this framework for Fusaka (planned for late Q3, with PeerDAS & EOF already SFId) suggests the following:

  • Headline feature: L2 scaling
  • P1: EIP-7594 PeerDAS & CFId EIP-7892: Blob Parameter Only Hardforks
  • P2: EIP-7692 EOF (whilst already SFId, P2 as Fusaka will ship with just PeerDAS if EOF not ready)

Stakeholder Input

Base’s input is a great example of stakeholder input for upgrade headline feature(s)/P1:

Eth Magicians could be the home for what I am calling ECIPs (Ethereum Community Improvement Proposals). The template should be really light weight, answering your what/why/who questions.

ACDT

Elevating interop/client testing call to an ACD protocol call means it should be explicitly public, with a live stream, recording, transcript & chat log publicly available. Whilst the expectation is that only implementers (client teams), testers and devs using features being implemented attending/presenting and the wider community viewing the live stream/recording and reading the summary, transcript & chat log.

Previously interop/client testing call was semi-private so that client teams could discuss any sensitive security issues.
Anyone awake at EF Eth o’clock could attend, but there is no live stream, no recordings, no transcript & no chat log.
The public output was notes on Eth Magicians. ( @parithosh plus PandaDevOps & more recently @poojaranjan)

With the rise of ACDT, there may be a need for a ACDS, which doesn’t have a public invite, but notes are made publicly available on Eth Magicians.
