The team reviewed progress on PBS subnets and discussed updates on Lighthouse configuration and ePBS devnet testing, with most client teams expected to be ready for the first devnet by next week. The team confirmed their support for FOCIL as the headliner for Hecata and discussed plans for CL, while also addressing the status of a PTC deadline PR. The team discussed the progress on PBS subnets, with client teams requesting an additional week or two to prepare for the first devnet. Parithosh shared an update that the Kurtosis configuration with Lighthouse is now working. The meeting appeared to be in its early stages, with the agenda being relatively light due to much of the PBS subnet discussion having moved to ACDT.

PK provided an update on the Lighthouse ePBS devnet testing, reporting that it was working well locally with mostly minor bugs identified so far. Stokes noted that once one or two more client teams are added, they can establish a stable core for the devnet and continue moving forward. No other client teams provided updates on ePBS progress during the meeting.

The team discussed progress on launching a devnet, with Parithosh expecting at least two clients to be ready by next week to meet the end of February target. Lighthouse reported having a single-client devnet ready in about a week or two, while Teku confirmed readiness for next week’s initial devnet try. The team noted that Prysm still has a few PRs to merge, and while there was discussion about the variable PTC deadline, no decision was made and the PR remains open, though it was noted as not being a current blocking issue.

The team discussed the status of a PTC deadline PR, which Francesco is leading, but decided to table the discussion due to time constraints and ETH Denver activities. They then focused on selecting a headliner for Hagota, reviewing two proposals: EIP 7805 (FOCIL) and a proposal for partial reconstruction and 2DOS. The team was set to proceed with picking the headliner following their current process.

The team discussed and confirmed their support for FOCIL as the headliner for Hecata, with multiple client teams including Lighthouse, Teku, Lodestar, and Nimbus expressing their preference for FOCIL over other options. Stokes proposed to lock in FOCIL as the headliner, and no objections were raised by the team members present.

The team decided to make FOCIL the headliner proposal for CL, with plans to SFI FOCIL for Hagota. They agreed to focus on ePBS devnets before proceeding with EIP proposals for Agota, given current timing constraints. The group also discussed potentially reaching out to John Adler about relaunching his original L2 as FOCIL Fuel.

Next Steps:

  • stokes: Create PR for FOCIL as the headliner for Hecata within the next day or two
  • Client teams (Lighthouse, Teku, Prysm): Continue work to be ready for ePBS devnet zero by next week or end of February
  • Parithosh: Launch devnet once 2-3 clients are ready (targeting end of February)
